Reasons for low Linux adoption on desktop PCs
Issue of Migrating from Single-Core to Multi-Core Implementation of Operating System
Matyáš, Jan ; Šimek, Václav (referee) ; Strnadel, Josef (advisor)
This thesis discuss necessary changes needed in order to run MicroC/OS-II on multicore processor, mainly Zynq 7000 All Programmable SoC which uses two ARM Cortex-A9 cores. Problems that arise during this transition are also discussed.
Issue of Migrating from Single-Core to Multi-Core Implementation of Operating System
Skopal, Jakub ; Krčma, Martin (referee) ; Strnadel, Josef (advisor)
This thesis deals with the modifications of the hardware design and operating systems of the ZedBoard multi-core platform so that both ARM Cortex A9 processor cores included in SoC Zynq7000 can be used. It analyses the general issue of the multi-core environment and the core functions of the kernel and the operating system. It describes selected means of implementation ZedBoard and FreeRTOS. In the implementation section, specific steps are demonstrated to convert a single-core operating system to a multi-core system but also steps required to run two different operating systems on two processor cores. In the last section all achieved results are summarized.
Porting of RedirFS on Other OS
Zelený, Miroslav ; Čejka, Rudolf (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis describes process of RedirFS portation to FreeBSD operating system. Source operating system is Linux. Those two operating systems are described from VFS view to determine differences and needed modifications. Then follows implementation of port.
Design of Mobile Application for BUT Students
Vlasák, Adam ; Neuwirth, Bernard (referee) ; Dydowicz, Petr (advisor)
The bachelor's thesis is devoted to the topic of mobile application design with a primary focus on the Android platform from Google. The design is also applicable to Apple's iOS platform. The application will be intended for BUT students. With the help of the application, students will have quick access to the most common items of the BUT intraportal and studis.
Cyber attacks on operating systems
Holasová, Eva ; Komosný, Dan (referee) ; Člupek, Vlastimil (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is focused on cybernetic attacks towards operating systems. In the thesis, there are discussed base security functions of operating systems Windows, Linux and macOS; followed by described cybernetic attacks and its differences. The chapter Malware describes the most harmful software. Next chapter is about common awareness of cybernetic attacks, in which terms antivirus, firewall and IDS/IPS (Intrusion Detection System/Intrusion Prevention System) systems are defined. Following chapter brings scenario of ethics of hacking on operating system of personal computer, server and web server by using penetration tests. The thesis is finished by doing ethics hacking and evaluations. The goal of this thesis is to summarize the problem of cybernetic attacks, methods and tools whose goal is to break the security of the system, the use some of these method to do ethics hacking in virtualized environment.
Multimedia System for Support of Languages Education
Drápal, Libor ; Eysselt, Miloš (referee) ; Kreslíková, Jitka (advisor)
This project is about electronic learning (e-learning). The first part of this document explains the meaning of the term e-learning, where it is used and what advantages and disadvantages has this type of learning compared to the other methods of learning. The user gets familiar with tools that create the electronic lesson and how to design the lesson. In the second part there are described different techniques and tools to create application interface, to display 3D graphic and to play audio records in different operating systems. In this part, there are described tools in more detail for the operating system Microsoft Windows. The goal of this project is to design and to realize the multimedia system for language education. With the use of 3D graphic and audio records the educational system was created with sophisticated appearance and comfortable control.
Application for secure data storage for mobile devices
Kocáb, Marek ; Martinásek, Zdeněk (referee) ; Mácha, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor’s thesis is focused on the creation of application for secure data storage for mobile devices. The paper theoretically describes operating system according to users popularity and programming languages. The following section explains AES encryption standard and its principle of data encryption and decryption. In the practical part is created a PINapplication programm. The application allows user to store sensitive data using chosen password. It is possible to save new data or erase current data. These data are encrypted by mentioned AES standard. The application is programmed in Java language with the version for mobile devices (J2ME).
